1. What we collect

EmojisLab collects minimal data necessary to operate the service:

• Usage data: Pages visited, emoji copy events (anonymous — no user ID attached), and search queries. This data is used to rank trending emojis and improve search.
• Device data: Browser type, OS, screen resolution. Collected by our analytics provider (Plausible Analytics — privacy-first, GDPR compliant, no cookies).
• Newsletter sign-up: If you subscribe via the newsletter form, we collect your email address only, stored in Mailchimp. You can unsubscribe at any time.

We do not collect: names, passwords, payment info, social logins, or any personally identifiable information beyond what you voluntarily provide.

2. Cookies

EmojisLab does not use tracking cookies. We use Plausible Analytics, which is cookieless and fully GDPR, CCPA, and PECR compliant. No consent banner required — because there's nothing to consent to.

3. How we use your data

• Anonymous copy events → used to calculate trending emoji scores (updated hourly)
• Search queries → used to improve search results and surface popular terms
• Email addresses (if subscribed) → used only to send the newsletter you signed up for

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

• Plausible Analytics — privacy-first web analytics
• Google AdSense — contextual advertising (uses cookies; you can opt out at adssettings.google.com)
• Mailchimp — newsletter delivery (only if you subscribe)
• Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection

5. Data retention

Aggregate analytics data is retained for 12 months. Email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Anonymous usage events are purged after 90 days.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, email us at privacy@emojislab.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

7. Children

EmojisLab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, contact us immediately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our practices change. We'll update the “Last updated” date at the top and, for material changes, post a notice on the site.
