Terms of Service
Plain language. The short version: use the site, don't abuse it, everything here is provided as-is.
1. Acceptance
By using EmojisLab (“the Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service. Simple as that.
2. What you can do
- Browse, search, and look up emoji meanings freely.
- Copy emoji characters for personal and commercial use (emoji characters themselves are Unicode standard; we claim no ownership).
- Share links to pages on this site.
- Use the API (if you have a valid API key) within the rate limits specified in your plan.
3. What you can't do
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download content from the site in a way that strains our infrastructure.
- Reproduce our editorial content (emoji meanings, descriptions, cultural analyses) verbatim without attribution.
- Use the Service to build a competing product that substantially reproduces our data without a commercial license.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the Service.
4. Intellectual property
The emoji characters themselves are part of the Unicode Standard and are not owned by EmojisLab. The editorial content — meanings, descriptions, cultural analyses, Gen Z slang entries — is original work owned by EmojisLab and protected by copyright.
The EmojisLab name, logo, and design are trademarks of EmojisLab.
5. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee that emoji meanings are accurate for every cultural context (language and internet culture evolve fast). We don't guarantee uptime, though we try our best.
6. Limitation of liability
EmojisLab is not liable for any damages arising from your use of the Service, including (but not limited to) sending the wrong emoji to the wrong person. We've all been there. We're not responsible.
7. Third-party links
The Service may link to third-party sites. We're not responsible for their content or practices. Opening those links is your call.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend access to the Service for users or IP addresses that violate these Terms, especially scrapers that ignore our robots.txt.
9. Changes
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on the site. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict of law principles.
